Important Factors to Look at When Buying a Pressure Cleaner

Pressure cleaners are ideal for tough cleaning jobs, as they reduce the amount of manual labour needed. Before buying one, however, it’s best to look at these factors to know what model is most suitable for your application:

  1. Size – Find the right size according to the type of cleaning you’ll perform. If you need a pressure cleaner for your home, any portable model will do. If you’re in the commercial sector, however, you may need a heavy-duty type to do the job faster and easier.

  2. Horsepower (HP) – Know how much power your preferred pressure cleaner can generate. A higher horsepower means higher pressure and more volume of water to pump. This is important when you want to work longer or work on difficult-to-remove stains.

  3. Pounds per Square Inch (PSI) Rating – This is the pressure generated by the pressure cleaner. If you’re planning to use it for cleaning a vehicle, deck, patio, fencing or outdoor furniture, any model with 2,000 to 3,100 psi will do. A higher psi is ideal for graffiti removal, paint stripping, construction cleaning and other heavy-duty tasks.

  4. Gallons per Minute (GPM) Rating – This is the water flow (in one minute) that the pressure cleaner can release when cleaning. A continuous operating time of 14 minutes is achievable with two GPM. The higher the GPM, the faster you can clean.

  5. Cleaning Power Units (CPU) – This is when you multiply the GPM with the PSI. The higher the CPU, the deeper and more effectively you can clean.

  6. Accessories – Check if the pressure cleaner has accessories included when you buy it. A dirt blaster, a wand and telescoping wand, a nozzle and a gutter cleaner are only some examples.
